Albert "Sonny" Lawrence TwissSeptember 3, 1937 ~ June 11, 2017 (age 79)
Albert “Sonny” Lawrence Twiss
After a long hard fought battle, it is with sad and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband & father, Albert (Sonny) Twiss on June 11, 2017 at the Health Sciences Centre SICU with family & friends by his side.
Sonny is predeceased by his parents, Robert & Dorothy Twiss, his father & mother-in-law, Bill & Peggy Fruck and many other family members. He is survived by his wife Kathy, loving daughter Dianne (Donny) Todoruk, dear sister Edna Stadnyk, brothers-in-law Jim Fruck, Ken (Sandra) Fruck and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Sonny was born in Carman, MB on September 3, 1937 and grew up on a farm in the Wingham area where he attended Wingham School. He worked for several farmers, garages, and in construction. He had his happiest times when he owned and operated his own custom haying business travelling and living throughout southern Manitoba. He met & married Kathy Fruck on September 2, 1967 and was looking forward to celebrating 50 years of marriage this year and his 80th birthday the following day. His proudest achievements were his marriage to Kathy and the birth of their daughter Dianne in 1972.
Sonny loved playing hockey and was drafted by the Boston Bruins farm team in his early 20’s. He also enjoyed many other sports including boxing and was a huge fan of the Winnipeg Goldeyes having season tickets for many years until health issues prevented him from going.
Sonny enjoyed living in the Duchess Apartments in Portage and considered everyone there his friend. Even after a life of suffering, dealing with many issues, he always stated it was Jesus that brought him through everything. Sonny taught us so much about life and always showed us his love whether by words or hand signs. Thank you to all who have loved and supported us through this very difficult time. Sonny, you fought a good fight and now you can have your eternal life. Rest in Peace. We love you BIG TIME! You will be in our hearts forever.
