Tree Dedication

Every year we dedicate a tree in memory of each individual as a living memorial. We are touched by all the reconnecting. A sense of community seems to happen spontaneously realizing how many are as well adapting to their new reality pressing on to thrive while not loosing the good memories. These trees hold a form of hope and promise of what uniqueness is yet to be revealed.

Our thoughts are with each family in your own unique journey and be assured your loved one will always have a presence with you.

Trees are planted at the various locations: Evergreen Memorial Gardens (1998, 1999, 2000 & 2001), Fort La Reine Museum (2002), Windsor Park Estates (2003, 2004 & 2005), Yellowquill School (2006), Highway #1 East by railroad tracks (2007), St. Mary's Cemetery (2008, 2009 & 2010), Henderson Drive (2011), PCU Centre/MNP Exibition Building (2012), MDC Cemetery (2013), Evergreen Memorial Gardens (2014), Prairie Alliance Church (2015), Henderson Drive (2016), Portage Clinic - Relocated to Southport (2017), Southport (2018 & 2019).

The year in brackets represents The Dedication Service, which usually takes place the following year of the death of the loved one.

Once the location where trees are to be planted is complete, a plaque is installed to list the names of the loved ones.

For the tree dedication in 2020 we have taken a new approach, due to the fact we are having a difficult time finding enough land to plant so many trees each year. A larger single tree will be planted at a location in Portage la Prairie or surrounding area to be a living tribute for all the families we have served the previous year. A granite bench will be placed near the tree, and the name of each loved one who passed away will be engraved on the bench, to dedicate the tree in their memory as a living tribute.
