Julie-Anne (Bray) Desrochers

August 20, 1960 ~ December 4, 2019 (age 59)

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Julie-Anne Desrochers, on Wednesday, December 4th, 2019 at Portage District General Hospital. Julie passed away at the age of 59 years.

Julie leaves behind her best friend and husband of 39 years, Barry Desrochers, son Patrick (Kristin) Desrochers, 3 grandchildren William, Robert and Cameron Desrochers, siblings Linda Bray and Wendy (Dennis) Richards and nieces Kayla Bray (T.J.) and Hannah Richards (Wayne). Julie is also survived by many brothers/sisters in law, nieces and nephews, cousins and their families, as well as many cherished friends. She was predeceased by her parents Burton and Rachel Bray.

Julie was born on August 20th, 1960 in Baldur, Manitoba. She was the youngest of 3 siblings. She grew up in Baldur, attending school there and continued her education at Assiniboine Community College before graduating with a degree in Licensed Practical Nursing.

Julie married Barry Desrochers on August 16, 1980. Together they raised their son, Patrick Desrochers.

Julie worked her entire career at St. Amant Centre as a nurse. She then furthered her education and became the Resident Care Coordinator there, until her retirement in September 2019. Julie was a caring and compassionate woman, who always put the needs of others first. She considered the residents of St. Amant Centre and their families as her extended family.

Julie was a very dedicated and hard-working woman. If there was something that needed to be done, she did it. She loved to attend auction sales, craft sales, and garage sales. She enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family and friends. Julie loved her 3 grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play hockey, baseball and swimming. Julie, Barry, Patrick and family enjoyed family trips to Disneyland, Niagra Falls, and road trips though Drumheller and Banff.

As per Julie's wishes, a private gathering celebrating Julie's life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Portage District General Hospital staff for the care and comfort provided. It was much appreciated by both Julie and her family.
