Peacefully, with her family by her side, Pearl passed away on July 8, 2019 at the age of 91. Pearl was born in Winkler, MB on September 24, 1927. She was predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Graefer, her parents George and Ann Neufeld of Winkler, MB and sister Viola Doell of Winkler, MB.
Pearl is survived by her brother Kelvin Neufeld of Vancouver, BC; sisters-in-law Margaret Graefer of Winkler, MB and Anne Graefer of Alberta; her children Jo-Ann, Robert (Patricia) and Sandra (Dave); grandchildren Benji (Jen), Christy, Justin, Michael (Kathleen), Blake (Jen), Graham, Tanya (Grant) and James; great grandchildren Carter, Natalie, Keegan, Parker, Max, Kaiden, Kyla and Nash; and many special nieces and nephews.
Pearl was employed by the Portage Hotel where she made many lifelong friends, and also worked as a kindergarten teacher in Portage la Prairie, MB.
Pearl had a passion for cooking, and was an excellent baker who loved to entertain family and friends. Pearl also enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, travelling, visiting the cottage, fishing, crocheting and playing cards, especially with her grandchildren.
A graveside service for Pearl will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Portage la Prairie, MB. Friends who so wish can gather at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 12:45pm to process to the cemetery. A reception will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel following the interment.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Pearl’s memory to the CNIB Foundation, 1080 Portage Avenue Winnipeg MB R3G 3M3, or to a charity of one’s choice.
