Arlene Rudy

October 26, 1940 — October 21, 2019

Arlene's family is saddened to announce her passing on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Lions Prairie Manor.

Arlene was born October 26, 1940, in Portage la Prairie to Jack and Kitty (Smallpiece) Riach, the middle of three children.

She was predeceased by her parents in 1981 and 2014; son Terry in 1985; husband Edgar in 2007 and niece Michelle Killam in 2017.

Arlene is survived by her brother Larry Riach and his son Todd (Andrea) and their children Connor and Jessica, his daughter Corey (Ian) Holding and their children Ashley, Madison and Megan, and his daughter Tracey Riach and her husband Leon Vymenets;  her sister Myrna (Casey) Gowler and their son Jeff (Tammy) Gowler and their sons Josh and Nic, and their son-in-law Stan Killam and his children Alex and Cassidy.  Arlene is also survived by Edgar's sister Hilda (Watson, deceased) Gowler and family and Fred and Vera Wilson and their families.  She was also survived by many cousins and their families.

Arlene started her working career in the Canadian Bank of Commerce in Portage la Prairie and ended it with Revenue Canada in Transcona.

Despite her many health and pain issues over the years she remained a warm, feisty individual with a quick, sometimes wry sense of humour.

We wish to thank the staff at Lions Prairie Manor and Lorne Memorial Hospital in Swan Lake, for their compassion and patience in caring for Arlene.

In accordance with Arlene's wishes there will be no funeral service.  A private family interment of her ashes will take place at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Arlene’s memory to Lions Prairie Manor Foundation, 24 - 9th Street NE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3V4.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
