George Dubois

September 17, 1961 — August 30, 2021

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our son, brother, and uncle George Alan Dubois at the age of 59 on August 30,2021 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

He was a ‘Getter Done’ type of guy right up to his last breath.  When George said let’s go, you went or were left behind. George leaves to mourn in his passing his father Earl Eyolfson of Portage, brother Dean Dubois (Debbie) of Portage, brother Gordon Dubois (Joy) of Alonsa, sister Marion Nelson (Craig) of Portage, brother-in-law Dave Arrmstrong of Polonia, nieces, nephews and extended family.  He was predeceased by his mother Janet Eyolfson (2019), sister Arlene Armstrong (2020), his grandparents Ed (1976) and Emily (2006) Brown, Sam (1981) and Lily (2010) Eyolfson, along with some uncles, aunts, cousins, and a couple long life friends.

George was born September 17, 1961 in Portage la Prairie and raised in Bluff Creek to the age of 12 when they moved to Thompson.  He completed up to grade 10 at RD Parker Collegiate.  After a few job choices he decided to make highways his career.  Moved back to Bluff Creek and lived with his grandmother and uncle while working on highways.  In 1990 he moved back to Thompson to continue with highways and was there until his passing, 40 years.  In those 40 years George made a lot of friends and touched a lot of people’s hearts.

Almost every Friday night when it was quitting time you would find George sitting at table 10 in the Trappers Tavern having a caeser.  In the fall George enjoyed deer hunting with his brothers and friends in Alonsa.  He didn’t have much time for anything else as work was where he would want to be.

Rest easy and fly high George or as some would call him Fuzzy Bear, until we meet again.

A graveside service to honour George will be held at 2:00 pm on September 10, 2021 at the Bluff Creek Cemetery with Jona Weitzel officiating.  The service was recorded and viewable at the bottom of this page.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish donations may be made in George’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
