Mama was born in Ebb and Flow First Nation, Manitoba on March 2nd, 1949 to Paul and Catherine Houle. She lived in Ebb and Flow for approximately 20 years before moving to Skownan, MB with her husband James. They Married on April 25th, 1970 and had eight children together; five boys and three girls. She raised her family in Skownan, MB. In 1996, she moved to Portage La Prairie where she raised her grandsons. Mama also helped raise her younger sisters. She was an excellent cook, baker, and loved gardening and canning, and enjoyed feeding her family and whomever went to her home. She was known for her awesome bannock and candy apples, and tea always tasted better at Mama’s house.

Mama accepted the Lord into her heart in 1971 at the age of 22 years. Mama is remembered for her caring, witty sense of humour, generosity, kindness and most of all her guidance and love. Mama had a special relationship with each and every one of us.

We will surely miss her daily phonecalls. She was known as “Big Mama” to everybody that knew her.

The family would like to send gratitude to the Portage EMS for their quick response and to Dr. Sidah and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for taking good care of Mama. We would also like to thank Pastor Francis Roulette and congregation for all of their help and support they have showed us during this difficult time, also to those who sent heartfelt condolences.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
