Noreen McLauchlan

February 18, 1941 — August 19, 2020

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, Noreen Anne McLauchlan, on August 19th, 2020.

Noreen will be greatly missed by her children, Heather (John), Ken (Jackie), her grandchildren, Ainslie (Kyle), Brandon (Sam), her great grandchildren, Henry, Theo, Orion, and Maci. She will be missed by her sister, Barb (Barry), her brother Doug, and her sister-in-law Ida. Noreen had many nieces and nephews, as well as near and dear friends, in particular Lorraine, and Rosie, whom she greatly loved.

Noreen is predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Hank (Henry), along with her parents Nora and Arthur Hallatt, her brother Ken and her sister-in-law Marg.

Born on February 18th, 1941, Noreen was a caring and kind hearted woman who would give anything or everything to insure the happiness of her family and friends. Graduating as a Nurse in 1961, Noreen started her career at Brandon General Hospital, and continued her career in many hospitals in Manitoba, to then finishing her nursing career in Portage la Prairie at The Lions Manor. Noreen's world truly stopped in 1959, when she met the love of her life, Henry McLauchlan.  On February 17th, 1962, Noreen and Hank married. To say that this was one of the best days of her life would be an understatement. Two of their greatest blessings arrived in the coming years after they were married, their daughter, Heather, and their son, Ken. As Hank was a member of the RCMP, Noreen, Hank and their family moved to many places during their lifetime including, Brandon, Melita, Morden, Deloraine, Dauphin and lastly Portage la Prairie. Noreen touched many hearts along the way. She was always loving and giving with a soft shoulder and a listening ear to any that needed her. She was quick to share whatever she had with whomever needed it, as long as they appreciated it. Noreen and Hank loved to travel, and were able to go on many adventures and trips together before Hank's passing. They particularly enjoyed going to their place in Arizona every winter, and going to visit their children, and grandchildren. Noreen continued to travel in the years after Hanks' passing, going to many of the places that were on her bucket list such as The Alaskan Cruise, Scotland, Ireland, and England, a road trip to Port Hope, trips to Hawaii, visits to Palm Springs, and Florida, and the Disney Cruise/ Disney world experience with her family. Noreen was very involved in the Anglican Church in Portage la Prairie,  working on the Altar Guild with her dear and close friend Rosie, as well as working as a side person. A great accomplishment in recent years was finishing her certificate in Religious Studies. Noreen was a light in all her family's lives, and in all of the peoples lives that she touched. She knew just what to say when you needed to vent, and she showed you how to spread kindness to all around you, no matter who they were. Noreen loved to drink tea, do crosswords puzzles, eat the last bite of dessert, update you on the daily news or weather, but most of all loved being surrounded by family and friends. She would often tell her friends and family stories about her life, and was there to give us guidance when life would throw us curve balls. Her advice, laughter, and smile will be missed, but her memory will live with us for a lifetime.

We take comfort in knowing that Dad/Grandpa is taking care of you once again, and that you both can finally spend forever together. Until we meet again, Mom/Grandma. We love you.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Noreen next year due to COVID-19. Noreen's final resting place will be with her husband, Hank, in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Our family would like to thank the Medical Floor Staff at Portage la Prairie General Hospital for your outstanding care, and compassion, as well as the many homecare workers that would vibrantly come and help Mom during her final few months. She always looked forward to seeing your smiling faces.

Donations can be made to St. Mary's la Prairie Anglican Church, 36-2nd St. SW, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 2A, where a memorial fund has been set up in Noreen's memory, as well as Central Plains Cancer Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8.
