With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Sam Hofer.

On Sunday, December 13, 2020 Sam Hofer passed away at the age of 80 years to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife Emma, children Colleen (Kenneth), Robert (Blondina), Anita (Jake), Samuel (Betty), Marian (Kenneth) Rebecca, Beverly and Alana; grandchildren Emma, Samuel (Tania), Kendra (Royden), Adrian, Gideon, Nicole (Aaron), Roman, Renae, Kayla, Emily, Jacobi, Samson, Titus, Janelle, Kira, Elizabeth, Silas, Hannah, Bethany, Samantha (Ethan), Kenton, Mara, Curtis; great-grandchildren David and Easton; siblings Maria (late Jacob), Joseph (Susanna), and David (Sarah), numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Sam was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Maria, siblings Jacob (baby), John (Susanna), Clara (Mike), Jacob (Margaret), Jeremiah (Justine), and Mike (Janice).

Dad loved life. He loved going for drives, listening to the radio and talking to people on the phone. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following many teams and leagues. He was a social person and enjoyed getting together for coffee with friends. Earlier in life, he had a small hobby of buying or looking for vehicles for his children and grandchildren. Dad was very competitive and even wanted to be the first one to spot the birds when they came back to Manitoba in the Spring. He loved nature and watching the sun move in the sky with the changing seasons.

Dad’s pride and joy was his family and he always wanted to know what was going on in their lives; he didn’t want to miss a thing. He would pray for each one in the family daily and when he phoned, he would ask about each grandchild specifically.

Dad often would repeat basic every day advice like: Always keep the cell phone charged. Never drive with less than a ¼ tank of gas - especially in the winter. Avoid driving at night if possible. Be sure to drive carefully.

Dad enjoyed talking to others about his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He was thankful that God gave His Son to die for his sins and often said that he was a sinner, saved by grace. Dad appreciated and enjoyed listening to gospel preaching.

Dad, we love you and miss you in so many ways already, but we know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord; which is far better. We look forward to the day when we will all be together again.

There will be a private family service and burial at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.  The funeral service will be live streamed on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 1:00 pm, please click on link above to watch the funeral service.

Dad has a special needs grandchild that was very near to his heart.
