Wade Smoke

The creator called one of his children home Wade Smoke on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at the age of 27 years, in Portage la Prairie, Mb.

Wade will be lovingly remembered by his mother Charlene Smoke, brother Virgil (Hope) with nieces/nephews Brooklynn, Bradley, Brenna and Bristen Chaske, sister Katherine (Elliot) with niece/nephew Alexandria and E.J. Chaske-Cook, grandfather Clayton Smoke, special auntie Heather Smoke, special cousins Violet, Cassandra, Natasha, AJ and by special friend Roberta Flett and all his aunties and numerous cousins that he loved dearly in Canupawakpa Dakota Nation.  He was predeceased by his father Virgil Chaske, maternal grandmother Geraldine Smoke, paternal grandparents Louis Chaske and Katherine Sutherland, aunt Doris Kay, uncles Mike Kay and Allan Peters.

Wade attended school in Portage and Brandon, where he met a lot of his lifelong friends.  He was wanting to join the army following his graduation from college.  Wade loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, which he loved them all like his own.  He was always talking about them and sharing happy memories.  Wade enjoyed playing and watching sports.  He had a love for football, soccer and basketball.  He later developed a love for boxing and mma.  Wade had a special impact on everyone that he met and will forever be missed.

A Visitation and Slideshow will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Traditional Wake will take place at Canupawakpa Dakota Nation on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 4:00 p.m, followed by a service on Saturday, July 31, 2021 beginning at 12:00 noon.  Burial will follow at the Canupawakpa Cemetery.
