Thelma Krantz

March 2, 1940 — January 17, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thelma Krantz, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She passed away peacefully on January 17, 2023 with her children by her side.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Harvey Krantz, son Wayne, sister Audrey Hargreaves, brother Larry Belton and brother-in-law Geordie Squires.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Brenda (Gregg), Kelly (Carla), Craig (Anita), grandchildren Savanna (Corey), Kaylee (Jake), Cole (Celine), Rachelle (Trevor), Jon and great grandchildren Emmett, Wyatt and Devyn. As well as her siblings Earl (Donna), Don (Joyce), Linda, Bruce (Kathy), sister-in-law Sharon, special friend Beth, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Thelma was born in Plumas, Manitoba on March 2, 1940, and married her loving husband Harvey on July 3, 1959. Together, they raised their family on the farm, until they sold it in 2006. Harvey and Thelma were very proud of the century recognition of their family farm in 1996. Together they enjoyed many years of retirement which included winter getaways in Yuma, Arizona.

When she wasn’t cooking for the hunting crew, she could be found tending to her garden, playing with her pet goose or baking with her grandchildren. She cherished her time with her grandchildren and later in life, great grandchildren.

You never left the Krantz house hungry and Thelma carried that all throughout her life. She was always eager to make you a sandwich or at least get you a water.

Thelma will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit and her love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Thelma was the best mother and grandmother who leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and generosity, and will be forever remembered for her warm smile and contagious laughter.

May she Rest In Peace.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the Portage District General Hospital for their wonderful care and support during this most difficult time.

A private service will be held for the family.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Thelma’s memory to Central Plains Cancer Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8.
