Aleksander "Alex" Jan Borczuch

It is with profound sadness that we regretfully announce the passing of Alexander Borczuch on December 11th, 2025 at the Portage la Prairie Hospital at the age of 83.

Alex will be lovingly remembered by his son Shane and sister Diane as well as several nieces and nephews. Widower of his beloved wife Gloria, Alex was also predeceased by his parents Alex and Lucy Borczuch, brother John Borczuch, and sister Barbara Postal. Alex will also be missed by many good friends and his new kitten, Mitzi, that he loved to spoil.

Alex was born on January 5th, 1942 in Poland and immigrated to Canada at 8 years of age. He grew up and went to school in Portage la Prairie. Alex started a plumbing apprenticeship in 1963 and for over 55 years was a proud member of the United Association Local 254 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union. Having worked on many large mega projects, Alex took great pride in his work and loved sharing stories about his different experiences.

In 1967 he married Gloria Huyber. They worked and lived in Thompson and then The Pas where their son Shane was born in 1971. They continued to work in northern Manitoba for several more years in Jenpeg, The Pas, Sundance, Gillam.

Alex and Gloria moved to Portage la Prairie in 1994. After retiring Alex enjoyed working on his house and garden. He also had a passion for automobiles and woodworking. Alex also selflessly enjoyed helping others with any house or yard projects.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 5th, at 1:00 p.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd S, Portage la Prairie. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
