Anena Helen Eades

July 16, 1935 — June 5, 2024

Peacefully passed away, with her loving family by her side, on Wednesday June 5, 2024, at Portage Hospital, at the age of 88.

Loving mother of Debbie and Judi & Wade. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Ashley (Victoria), Aaron (Laurence), Andrea (Stephan), Laurel (Nolan), and great-grandchildren Caleb, Denver, Camille, Lucas, Sloane, Anika, and Emma. Survived by her sister Lydia & Tom Klassen and by brother-in-law Bill Goerzen and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her son-in-law Peter, her parents Henry & Anna Klassen, brothers Ben & Anne Klassen, David Klassen, sisters Emma Goerzen, Eva & Peter Loewen, Frieda & Abe Dyck.

Mom will be remembered for her immense joy in creating, whether through sewing, knitting, weaving, painting, or crafting beautiful ceramics. Her passion for craftsmanship was not only a source of joy but also a way of connecting with others. She loved a project and a challenge. She was a faithful participant in craft sales throughout Manitoba and was so grateful to her craft friends and her friends at Regency House who supported her as she remained involved, even as her vision was failing.

Mom dedicated herself to others, spending endless hours participating in her grandchildren’s activities and later following her great-grandchildren’s escapades. She was always happy when one of them would suggest a new idea for her to create or add a picture to her family collage.

“When you speak of her, speak not with tears, for thoughts of her should not be sad. Let memories of the times you shared give you comfort, for her life was rich because of you.” - Author unknown.

There will be no service as per Mom's wishes. A private family celebration of her life is planned.

In lieu of donations and flowers, we kindly ask that you honor Mom's memory by supporting a local crafter.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.   www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
