Audrey Anne McCormick

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Audrey McCormick on August 9, 2025 at Portage District General Hospital.

Audrey will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Kimberley Nacci, grandsons Adam Nacci and Kevin Nacci of Winnipeg; sister Patricia McCormick of Vilcabamba, Ecuador; brother Douglas (Pat) McCormick of Portage la Prairie, nephew Garth (Shawnna) McCormick of Oakville, nephew Grant (Wendy) McCormick of Lacombe, Alberta, nephew Kris (Cora-Lee) Hanson of Strathmore, Alberta, niece Jill (Kent) Holowath of Rumsey, Alberta and niece Dawn (Warren) Bezan of Inglis, Manitoba; along with nieces and nephew from her previous marriage and numerous great nieces and nephews. Audrey was predeceased by her parents William Robert “Bill” and Mary Iva “Florence” McCormick, cousin William Richard “Billy” McCormick, aunts and uncles and her poodles Buddy and Tiddie.

Audrey was born in Portage la Prairie on April 20, 1945 and grew up in the Portage and Oakville district. Audrey married Kenneth Charles “Ken” Palmer (deceased) in 1965 and had their daughter Kim. In 1984, Audrey married Gerald “Wayne” Fidler (deceased). Audrey worked her entire career with the Province of Manitoba at the health unit, natural resources, and finally at MDC where she retired in 2010. Audrey made a lot of great friends during her career. Audrey was adventurous and enjoyed the outdoors camping, fishing, tending her flowers and traveling to visit her sister Patricia. Audrey loved to entertain family, friends, and neighbors to delicious meals and happy hours! Audrey had so much energy and lived her life full tilt, until she couldn't.

Audrey recently celebrated her 80th birthday and enjoyed visiting with family and friends old and new. It was a great day!

Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Portage District General Hospital for taking great care of mom during her stay.

Viewing and Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 18, 2025 at 1:00 pm with interment to follow at the Oakville Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed, to register and view the service click on link below.
