Barrie Tully

February 25, 1961 — March 27, 2018

With his family at his side, Barrie Tully passed away on Tuesday, March 27th 2018 at the Stonewall Health Center at the age of 57.

He leaves to mourn his wife Lori; daughter Megan; parents Alvin and Florence Tully; sisters Sherry (Rheal) Buors and Lori A Tully; mother-in-law Pat Leslie; sisters-in-law Deanne (Dale) McLeod and Karen Leslie (Kirk Halwas); nieces and nephews: Steffani (Brad) McMillan, Jennifer Buors, Charlie Boyechko, Katie Boyechko, Nicole (Steve) Chychota, Allyssa (Mark) Sollner, Heather McLeod (Dan DesJardins); and special great auntie Buddy Whitehill.

Barrie was born in Portage la Prairie.  He attended school in Warren, MB.  He worked for the PFRA for several years before farming full time on the family century farm in Woodlands Municipality.  Barrie was known as a loyal friend, honest and hardworking man.  He was devoted to his family.  Barrie was passionate about hockey, playing himself and considered coaching Megan a highlight of his life.  His many activities included baseball, archery, hunting and fishing.  He was a self-taught saddle maker and silversmith.  Many people have treasured awards and gifts he crafted.  His biggest passion was roping.  Many hours of enjoyment, travel and lifelong friends were gathered through roping in the MTRA, MRCA, CCA and TRC associations.  One of his favorite things was to rope at home with his daughter, good friends and neighbors.

The service to celebrate Barrie’s life will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 2:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel in Portage la Prairie, MB.  A private family interment will take place in Oakville Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made in Barrie’s memory to Manitoba CancerCare Manitoba Foundation - “Rope for a Cure” 675 McDermot Avenue Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or a charity of one’s choice.
