Betty Ann Nichol

July 20, 1946 — October 7, 2021

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peacefully passing of Betty Ann Nichol at her home in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 75 years.

A huge hole is left in the lives of her beloved husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Betty Ann will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 30 years Barrie Nichol; children Lorri Ann (Kim) Menke and Loren (Cathy) Lang; grandchildren Josh (Paula) Prinz, Dylan Prinz, Karly Prinz (Tiegh Francis), Wade Shapley (Sonja Nahanee), Troy Shapley (Yu Sun), Chad (Tianna) Shapley and Landis Lang; great grandchildren Adelynn and Grayson Prinz and Sadie Shapley.  She will also be dearly missed by many nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.   Betty Ann was predeceased by her loving parents, five older sisters, nieces and nephews.

Betty Ann was born in Flintoft, SK to Margaret Jane Roberton (nee Mowatt) and William Henry Roberton on July 23, 1946, the youngest of 6 girls.  Her father worked for the CP Rail and she moved around with her family, residing in section houses.  Living a huge part of her younger years in Herbert, SK.  In 1965, she married Leonard Lang, settled down in Swift Current, SK and was blessed with two beautiful children Lorri Ann and Loren.  Betty Ann and Leonard went their separate ways.  Betty Ann began a new chapter in her life working for a couple of businesses around Swift Current.  She was working at a Western Store when she met a handsome young man, Barrie.  They soon married and started a new life in Portage la Prairie.  They spent many years working together beautifying their treasured acreage outside of Portage, which they took great pride and joy in.  When she was not busy with her yard and garden, she was creating beautiful crafts and sewing projects.  She gave away many of her creations that are treasured today by her loved ones.

A private family graveside memorial will be held at a later date in Herbert, SK.

Betty Ann loved animals; donations in her memory can be made to PAWS 121 - 12 St NE, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 4A2 the Canadian Liver Foundation Suite 101, 3100 Steeles Ave East, Markham, ON L3R 8T3.
