Beverly was born in Toronto, Ontario. She entered the convent in Quebec City for 2 years and left when her mother became ill. She met her husband, Lorne Scavarelli in Fort William, Ontario and had 5 children. They moved to Winnipeg in 1968, where she worked at Steinman Auctions before starting her career in Correctional Services. She divorced and moved to Calgary in 1978 to work with the John Howard Society for 7 years, then onto correctional services again for 10 years as the first female Department Director of Spy Hill Jail in Alberta. She remarried twice more, Carlo Poli for 5 years and then Tom Addinall, the love of her life. They moved to Portage la Prairie after retirement to take care of Bev’s ailing mother. They divorced, and Bev moved to Prelate, Saskatchewan to work in the girls’ school with the nuns for 3 years before returning to Portage. Bev lived at Regency House for over 18 years, making many friends. With her health failing, she moved to Douglas Campbell Lodge this past June, which she loved. Sadly, she was hospitalized in September with a broken femur and deteriorated quickly. She lived a very full and eventful life with her family.

The family would like to thank mom’s good friends Elsie and Jake, Pat and Linda for all their care and assistance. Thank you also to the doctors and nurses at Douglas Campbell Lodge and Portage General Hospital for taking care of mom and keeping her comfortable until the end.

A private family service will be held, and any donations can be made to the Diabetes Canada and Central Plains Cancer Services  in lieu of flowers.

A tree will be planted and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
