Cameron McNish

May 29, 1941 — December 4, 2022

Retired RCMP CPL (N Troop) Cameron A. McNish passed away December 4, 2022 at the age if 81 years at the Portage District General Hospital after Parkinsons took its toll.

Cam is survived by his devoted wife Beryl (White) after six years of dating and 59 years of marriage, daughter Pam (Richard) Bernard, granddaughter Caitlyn Ginter, former RCMP, and fiancé Dylan Saindon, both members of Altona Police Service, sisters Sharon (Neil) McDougall and Bonnie (Dale) Braid, sisters-in-law Betty (Ski) Kearsley and Hilda White, and his precious furbaby Cinnamon, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and remaining N Troop mates.

Cam was a dedicated RCMP officer. His first posting was on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, ON, serving the Prime Minister and many dignitaries. In 1963 Dad and Mom married in Portage la Prairie, MB, and for the next 18 years were posted in many places in Saskatchewan. When he retired, the family moved back to their home town, Portage la Prairie, MB. Cam worked for the Military/Atco Frontec at Southport, which he really loved.

Mom and dad went on many trips after they retired, Cam loved talking to anyone and had many friends. Dad was an amazing photographer and avid Bird Watcher. He could spot a bird from a mile away. Cam loved all sports and coaching young hockey players. Dad had a very special bond with his granddaughter Caitlyn. She could wrap him around her little finger.

Cam requested cremation and no service. He will be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park Columbarium top right corner so he can enjoy the sunrise and sunset.
