Suddenly after a medical emergency, Carley Lake passed away on February 1, 2026, with family by her side, at the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 36 years.
Left to cherish Carley’s memory are her fur baby Lucy June Lake, father Willie Lake (Cherie), mother Cindy Lake (Chris), sisters Jennifer Pollock (Billy) and Melissa Lake (Rick), nieces/nephews Jackson and Reese Pollock, Jesse and Morgan Goertzen, aunts/uncles Janice (Melvin), Donna (Glenn), Bobby (Julie), Debbie, along with numerous cousins, close friends and work family. She was predeceased by her grandparents Helen and Clifford Adams, Hazel and Wilfred Lake, uncle Jamie, uncle Marcel, auntie Charlene and auntie Judy.
Carley lived her life with passion, loyalty, and a heart that made room for so many. From a young age, she was a fierce competitor, spending her early years as a dedicated and talented softball player. When her knees could no longer handle the demands of the game, she refused to give it up entirely, turning instead to competitive slo-pitch - proving that determination and love for the sport would always find a way.
She met her closest, lifelong friends in elementary school, friendships that endured through every season of life. If you were lucky enough to be counted among her friends, you knew her to be incredibly loyal and fiercely protective - someone who showed up, stood up, and never left your side.
Carley shared a special bond with her beloved fur baby, Lucy, who brought her endless joy and companionship. In more recent years, her work with youth meant the world to her. She cared deeply for the children she worked with, loving them as if they were her own and finding purpose and fulfillment in supporting and encouraging them.
She had a love for farmers markets, a passion that inspired her to create her small business, LakeView Book Nook. The business quickly became known as a one-of-a-kind vendor, reflecting her creativity, care, and the personal touch she brought to everything she did.
Carley was incredibly proud of her nieces and nephews, loving them as her own children. She rarely missed an event and could always be found cheering the loudest from the sidelines, their biggest supporter and constant source of encouragement.
Her legacy lives on in the friendships she cherished, the children she nurtured, the family she adored, and the countless lives made brighter by her presence. Carley will be remembered for her fierce love, unwavering loyalty, and the way she made people feel seen, supported, and deeply cared for.
A celebration of Carley’s life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Herman Prior Centre, led by Amy Chappellaz. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed by registering at the link below.
