Peacefully on Friday July 6, 2024, Cheryl Watson passed away in Neepawa, MB at the age of 74 years.
Cheryl will be lovingly remembered by her cousins Phil Watson (Patti Ingram), Helen (Len) Roy, Ruth Best, Dan Watson and Eunice, aunty Ann, friend Linda Hall and all her friends and staff at Touchwood Park Care Home in Neepawa. She was predeceased by her parents Glen and Lottie Watson and sister Joy Watson.
Cheryl was born in Portage la Prairie, where she lived her younger years with her parents. Then she lived at the MDC, moving to Kin Glen in Portage until she went to her last place of residence at Touchwood Park in Neepawa in 1982. She has made many friends there since. She enjoyed the staff and gave them hugs and kisses generously. Cheryl enjoyed the day program and going out for coffee with friends, especially with Justin. She looked forward to phone calls and notes from her friend Linda Hall from Winnipeg, who she had known since her childhood.
She especially liked it when her cousin Phil (Pi as she called him), he would pick her up to go shopping and out for coffee. Sometimes they would bring a small treat back to her place for everyone. Cheryl used to call him almost everyday and they would have a phone visit in between their in person get-togethers.
Cheryl liked knitting, cats, dogs, crossword puzzles and jig saw puzzles. She would always keep her room tidy and organized. Cheryl would enjoy writing notes while on her swing, listening to music and waving at the big trucks – maybe partly because Phil drove a semi almost all his life. Cheryl will surely be missed by all her friends and staff at her home, Portage friends and by her family.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Touchwood Park in Neepawa for taking such good care of her and for everything they did for Cheryl. They are such very special people to be so caring and compassionate.
A family graveside service will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens a later date.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
