Clifford "Cliff" Morisseau of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Douglas Campbell Lodge at the age of 89 years.
Lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Theresa (Halischuk), he is survived by his children: Mark Morisseau (Angela), Rick Jobin (Jocelyn), Diane Castellano (Gino), Jo-Anne St. Goddard (Darryl), Shane Morisseau (Kerry), and Kelly Towle (Carolyn). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Marlee, Rylan, René, Joelle, Carmello, Czarina, Simone, Melissa, Demi, Ashley, and Kelli; and his great-grandchildren: Kamryn, Sophia, Sadie and Beau. Also left to cherish his memory are his sister Margie Baldwin (Harry), his brother Garry Morisseau (Helga), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mark and Annie Morisseau; his sisters, Georgette, Rosella, and Verna; and his brothers, Mark, Stanley, Louis, and Clarence.
Born in Haywood, Manitoba, on December 16, 1936, music was a lifelong passion for Dad. He gave his first performance alongside his father at a dance hall. As his artistry grew, he became a sought-after rhythm guitarist and vocalist, playing with well-respected artists both in and out of the province. He loved singing and playing his guitar with family and friends. Throughout the years, he played in several bands, often with his brothers Garry, Stan, and Mark, and later with his son Mark.
He attended Red River College for carpentry and remained in the construction industry for five decades, building grain elevators and homes across Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He was a fine finishing carpenter and was highly respected in his industry.
He met his wife, Theresa, in 1970 while working in Portage la Prairie, and they later married in 1978. He built the home that they resided in for the next 50 years while raising their family.
He loved being outside, and you could always find him tinkering around the yard or working with his wife in the garden. Above all, he cherished time spent with family.
Dad will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as a remarkably calm, kind, and patient man. He had a great sense of humour and loved nothing more than making people smile.
He was a wonderful husband, father, uncle and an amazing grandfather whom we will miss dearly.
The family extends a huge thank you to the staff at Douglas Campbell Lodge for making him feel so loved and at home.
