Delbert Armishaw

April 18, 1945 — July 5, 2022

The family sadly announces the passing of Delbert Armishaw on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Gladstone, MB after a 2 year battle with cancer.

Delbert was born on April 18, 1945 to Bert and Vera (nee Day) Armishaw on the family farm in Hood District. He received his education at Hood School and Portage Collegiate. In his younger years he was employed with Manitoba Government Water Resources branch. Delbert was an avid reader and much of his education was self taught. He studied nature, aviation, wildlife, farming, history and steam engines. When he was younger, he loved to hunt and fish. Delbert could talk to anyone about anything from the history of classical and country music to Motown. He even knew the history of all the communities in Manitoba and beyond.

Delbert was predeceased by his father Bertram and mother Vera (Day) Armishaw, brothers Ron, Victor, Wesley and Jim, and sisters Gail, Beth and Joyce.

Delbert is survived by his youngest sister Shirley, special nieces Susanne Moran and Bonny Herebout plus many more nieces and nephews Michael, Trevor, Kevin, David, Valerie, Evelyn, Jeanine, Janice and Laurie and many great-nieces and nephews.While Delbert was a patient in Gladstone he missed his friends in Portage namely Kevin, Johnny, Jack, Rick, Evelyn, Marcel and Louise, who helped so much when he first became ill.

The family would like to thank his doctors Dr. Rashimi Koul at McCharles Clinic and Dr. Kinnear of Portage for the care he received. Also thank you to Gladstone Hospice and Third Crossing Manor for looking after Delbert.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, July 8, 2022 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Avenue Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or to the Cancer Research Society Inc., 200 Isabella St, Suite 305, Ottawa, ON, K1S 9Z9.
