Dennis Myran

June 1, 1964 — August 28, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend, Dennis Craig Myran, Memegwan Inini “Butterfly Man”, of the Eagle Clan.  He was 55 years old when he passed into the Spirit World.

Beloved Father of Jamieson (Oti), Douglas, Kahlia and Logan; Grampa to Ozzie; Brother of Leslie (Phyllis), Donna, Louis (Shirley) Maurice (Gwen), Karen and Darryl; Uncle and Friend to many.  Dennis was predeceased by his brothers in law; Art and Brad, Sister Dorothy, Brother Thomas, nephew Gordie, Mother Louise and Father Louis Sr.

Dennis attended school in Long Plain and graduated from Portage Collegiate Institute. He served as a member of the RCMP in many communities in Manitoba; his first post being in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation. He earned degrees in Education and Special Education at Brandon University and his career brought him to serve communities all over Manitoba including Lac Brochet, Garden Hill, St. Therese Point, Pauingassi, Long Plain School, God’s Lake Narrows, Shamattawa, Cross Lake, Thompson and Pikangikum.

Dennis was always athletic, loving sports of all kinds and he took great pride in watching his kids skate and play hockey.  He had a fun and cheerful personality and he loved to visit and laugh.  Dennis loved to read and had a particular interest in travelling and flying.  He believed in the Traditional ways of our people honoring sweats and ceremonies.
