Derek Gross

After a long battle with cancer, Derek Gross passed away at the age of 58 years on Sunday, January 6th, 2019 at the Portage Hospital surrounded by friends and family.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Karen Gross; along with his daughters, Kalene Neudorf and husband Jed, Megan Gross and boyfriend David Kanne. He also leaves behind his parents, Ben and Arliss Gross; and siblings, Daryl Gross and wife Jan, Jeanne Holmberg and husband Jim, Janice Bezler and husband Kevin. Derek was predeceased by his cherished puppy Brandi.

Derek was born March 24th, 1960 in Bow Island, Alberta; and enjoyed 30 years of marriage. He loved spending time with brothers and friends on the golf course, working on his frankenstein truck or helping anyone in need. We will always remember his joyful smile, his jokes, and how much he loved using his countless skills to help others. He was a jack of all trades because he could never pick just one to do. He will be sorely missed by his housechurch, by Portage Transport where he worked as a Truck driver, and by Prairie Alliance Church where he served as a Sound technician.

A visitation and viewing will take place at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.  A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Prairie Alliance Church, 2375 Saskatchewan Ave W., Portage la Prairie, MB.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
