Donna Toews

Peacefully on Thursday, June 21, 2018, Donna Margaret Toews passed away with family by her side at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 73 years.

Predeceased by her husband George Toews in 2017; her daughter Cheryl; son Kevin; mother Peggy Nicholls and father Earl Nicholls.

Left to celebrate Donna’s life are her daughters Lynda (Robert) Froese, Carole (Vern) Froese, Janice (Dean) Ducharme; grandchildren Jasmine (special friend, Andrew) Froese, Julia (special friend, Josh) Froese, Tyler Froese and Chance Ducharme; brother Ken (Kathy) Nicholls; sister Rita (Dave) Brandner; brothers-in-law Ed (Doreen) Toews and David (Marilyn) Toews along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Donna was born in Portage la Prairie on November 1, 1944.  She lived in Oakville all of her life.  Donna married George in 1963 and together they raised their three daughters.   She worked for several years as a medical receptionist for Dr. Harsanyi.  Donna loved family, especially her grandchildren.  She had a strong faith and a great presence at the Anglican Church.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses that cared for mom during her illness.

A time of viewing and visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A celebration of Donna’s life will take place on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Oakville Community Hall at 2:00 pm.  A private family interment will take place at Oakville Cemetery.
