Eileen Alice Mutcher

Surrounded by the family that loved her dearly, Eileen Alice Mutcher (Olson) passed away on September 30, 2025 at the age of 83.

Eileen leaves to treasure her memory her devoted husband of 66 years, Otto Mutcher and their children Darryl & Maxine Mutcher, Kyle Mutcher & Michael Wagner, and daughter Kim Kelso. She is remembered by her grandchildren: Bekki & Stuart Stone (Grace, Emma, Ben); James & Danica Mutcher (Orrin, Caleb, Noah); Emily & Michael Gray (Tessa); Katie & Ryan Slikker; Samantha Mutcher & Evode Ntwali. She also leaves her siblings: Dale & Wendy Olson, Wayne & Sheila Olson, and Lois Wilson and many extended family.

Eileen was predeceased by her beloved daughter Sherri Dawn (1962-1978); her parents Clarence and Hilda Olson, siblings Connell (Lilian), Cyril (Florence); brother-in-law Ernie Wilson; and great granddaughter Lilianna.

Eileen was born in 1942 at Hazeldell, Saskatchewan and moved to Langruth, Manitoba area as a child. She attended Hollywood School with her siblings and met her future husband Otto there. They married in 1959 and began raising a family. Eileen supported Otto through many travels for work, most notably moving to Pine Falls in 1965 and to Portage la Prairie in 1976. Together Otto and Eileen designed and built two new houses for their family to grow up in. What made it a home was Eileen- the sound of her sewing machine, being busy in the kitchen, and taking care of her vast garden and flowers. She worked at Fanny’s Fabrics and as a school bus driver for 13 years, but her real passion was being a homemaker. Eileen showed her love for people by caring for them. She remarkably sewed clothing for the entire family for everyday wear, as well as dresses for special occasions. She was a wonderful cook, and no one ever left their home with an empty stomach.

She enjoyed spending time with Otto on his many adventures, and they were always together. Even when health forced moving out of their home, they made sure to stay close and spent every chance together with Otto caring for her with love and devotion.

To the staff of Douglas Campbell Lodge- we can’t thank you enough for the excellent care and support provided to both Eileen and Otto while she resided in care.

There will be a Celebration of Life on October 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Dufferin Villa 1125 Dufferin Ave E, Portage la Prairie. A private interment will take place at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made in Eileen’s name to Douglas Campbell Lodge.
