Einar Bergson

On Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, Einar Bergson passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years.

Einar is survived by his daughters Denise Bergson and Wendy (Ken) Kendall; grandchildren Ryan (Laura) Kendall, Colt Bergson (Nicole) and Jolene Mitchler (Jonah); and great-grandchildren Joshua Riley, Mercedes, Trista and Ashton. He is also survived by his brothers Steve (Joyce) Bergson, Roy (Carol) Bergson, Dan (Judy) Bergson and sisters Gwen (Russ) Lanoway and Marg (Gerry) Barron.

He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Elsie (nee Campbell); his two sons Larry Allen and Thomas Gerald Bergson; his parents Archie and Myrtle Bergson; brothers Harry and Joe Bergson.

Einar was born and grew up in the Leifur/Smalley School District, first son of eight children to Myrtle and Archie Bergson. He fished and farmed with his father until the 1940’s when he and his brother Harry formed a partnership and fished together for a number of years.  He married Elsie on June 26, 1950. After their marriage they farmed and fished from what was once called the Beckville Post Office until they sold the property and moved to Bowes Trailer Park East of Portage la Prairie, MB, where he lived until 2017 after which he spent time at the Gladstone Health Centre and finally Douglas Campbell Lodge.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11:00 am at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, led by Rev. Julie Baker.  Interment will follow in the columbarium at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.  For those attending please be scent-free, no perfume due to allergies.
