Elaine "Betty" McFarlane (nee Patterson)

With sadness we announce the passing of Betty McFarlane on August 12, 2025 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 96 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Bob McFarlane, son Tim McFarlane and sister Helen Grose. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her son Rick (Gloria) of Stony Plain, AB, daughter-in-law Kelly McFarlane of Winnipeg, grandchildren Andrew (Melinda), Reed (Nicola), Daniel and Mallory, great grandchildren James, Leland, Bryn, Easton, Iyla, Merek and Alice, sister Jean Steeden of Portage la Prairie; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Betty was born on October 10, 1928, in Portage la Prairie. She attended school at Portage Collegiate Institute, where she met Bob. They got married in 1950, after Betty graduated as a RN at the Winnipeg General Hospital. Bob worked for Hydro which made them move around to the following community during her life, Portage la Prairie, Rapid City, Killarney, Waskada and finally settling back to Portage la Prairie. Betty was a nurse, working on the Surgical Ward at Portage District General Hospital and then at eh Portage Clinic with Dr. Howden. She loved gardening, knitting, Delta beach and especially walking along Crescent Lake.

A private graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery.
