Eliazar Estevez-Herrera

Peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2026, at the Portage District General Hospital, Eliazar Estevez passed away at the age of 76 years with his family by his side.

Eliazar was the beloved son of Baltazar Estevez and Volia Herrera; he was adored by his brothers, sisters and all family members and friends.

He was born in Acapulco, Mexico and moved to Canada in the early 80’s where he gave his best performance in his life and where he met his wife Paulo Matheos, with whom he shared a wonderful life.

He left unforgettable memories and was always full of joy and happiness. He enjoyed visiting with many people which was one of the reasons why, other than his native language, he also learned to speak English and French. Chay loved life; being outdoors and enjoying nature. He loved to play the piano and gathering with his loved ones.

A service to honour his life will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 2:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.
