Elsie Christina Stockmann

We regret to announce the passing of Elsie Christina Stockmann on January 1st, 2026 in Portage la Prairie at the age of 71 years.

She was predeceased by parents William and Gertrude as well as older sister Helga and older brother William (Bill).

She was survived by her beloved best friend Gordon; her sons John Eric Haazen from Alberta and Peter Justin Stockmann in Manitoba; five grandchildren Gideon, Jacob, Ellyanna, Benjamin and Mayah; sister Barbara and brother Ernie; nieces Rita, Debbie, Tina, Jody, Kira and nephew Kenneth; as well as her cherished dog, Tweed.

Elsie would like to be remembered by the passages in I Corinthians 13, Elsie notes: “The greatest of these is LOVE”.

A memorial service will be held in Portage la Prairie this spring or summer, date to be determined. A memorial bench will be ordered by the family in Elsie’s name, site to be determined.

As expressions of sympathy, at Elsie’s request, if friends so wish, donations may be made in her memory to Westend Day Care 1825 Saskatchewan Ave W, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0R6.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.
