Evelyn Catherine Warren

Peacefully, with family by her side, Evelyn C. Warren passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 91 years.
Evelyn was born and raised in Portage la Prairie. She married George Warren on August 21, 1946. She enjoyed bowling on various teams and won many trophies and also loved maintaining her flower beds.
She was raised and attended school in Portage with 3 brothers and 2 sisters (2 sets of twins). In 1945 she moved to Orillia ON and worked in a baby carriage factory. This is where she met George. After getting married, they lived in several different cities until being posted to Germany in 1954 with 3 children. They returned to Canada in 1957. She worked at Campbell Soup in Portage for 20 years until she retired.
Evelyn will be lovingly missed by her son Glenn (Susie) of Portage la Prairie, MB with grandson Grant (Michelle) and great grandchildren Reece and Avery; daughter Sandra (Bryan) Birkett of Battleford Saskatchewan with granddaughter Julien and great grandchildren Phoenix and Tiger and grandson Derek and great grandchildren Hannah and Abby; son David (Margaret) of Powell River BC with grandson Tom and great grandchildren Brittany and T-J, grandson Don (Janine) and great grandchildren Miranda and Jordan and grandson Keith (T’Shana) and great grandchildren Jason and Riley; sister June Kelln of Medicine Hat, AB as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved husband George; parents Fred and Edwidge McKay, brothers Donald and Raymond both of Calgary, AB, brother Eugene killed in World War II in Sicily and sister Yvonne of Edmonton, AB.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Columbarium, followed by a reception at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Evelyn's memory to Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3.
A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Evelyn
