Gilbert Ivan Neufeld

With sadness we announce that Gilbert Neufeld passed away on August 10, 2026, at his home at the age of 84 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Judith; daughter Charleen (Dwayne) Snyder of Phoenix, AZ; daughter-in-law Nancy Neufeld; grandchildren Hayden, Kara and Lylah; and great grandchildren Izsabella and Seven; siblings Stan (Edna) Neufeld, Maxine Bouchie, Doug (Anna) Neufeld and Wally (Donna) Neufeld and sisters-in-law Joanne Neufeld and Edith Neufeld

Gilbert was predeceased by his son Jim; parents Walter and Dorothy; siblings Laverne, Lorne, Gerald and Bob; nephews Dennis and Christopher; niece Wendy and in-laws John and Florence Burns.

Dad was born on July 16, 1942, in Langruth, MB and grew up in Rossendale on the family farm. He worked with the railroad which is where he met mom. They married in July of 1964 and eventually moved to rural Portage. He worked at the military base in Portage and Brandon until he retired in 2010.

Mom and dad moved back to Portage to enjoy retirement by doing what they loved best; spending time with family and friends. Going to garage sales was a close second.

Dad did not want a funeral. He always said he’d rather people remember him as he was, therefore in keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be interred at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations in memory of dad may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
