Helen Rose Myran

October 1, 1950 — March 6, 2026

Suddenly, Helen Myran passed away on March 6, 2026, at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 75 years. She saw the hand of the Lord and took His hand.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Chris YellowQuill and Shayne Myran; all her intimate loving grandchildren; siblings James Myran “Jimmy Dean”, Donna Bartlette (Dave), Theresa Sanderson, Maureen Sinclair along with all her family, friends and First Nation peoples all of whom grew with her in life in Long Plain First Nation and far off in other places. You were blessed in her atmosphere and love.

She was predeceased by her sons Burtrand, Jonathan, Mike and Jeremiah; grandchildren Kyle Myran and Jadon Roulette; parents Andrew and Florence Myran; siblings Royce, Louise, Katie, Ethel, Agatha, Philip, Lawrence, baby Myran and Luke.

Helen was born and raised in Long Plain. She attended both Long Plain day schools. Helen and her siblings walked to school in both warm and cold winter days.

Growing up, Helen enjoyed playing the old folk games with her siblings and cousins. In her adult life, she moved to Portage la Prairie, then Winnipeg to find employment. In Winnipeg, she furthered her education and became a certified counselor.

After the passing of her son, Helen moved back to Long Plain, where she began her life-long employment as a Brighter Futures Coordinator. Although she had many other jobs, she enjoyed this one the most as she was creative and tailored this job to help young parents. She assisted numerous young parents out over the years.

As a single parent, Helen raised 6 sons and 2 grandchildren and was raising her third grandson before her passing. Helen was a loving, compassionate, honest, and very strong person. Above all, she always said it was the mercy of our lord Jesus who brought her through all the hard trials of her life. Helen loved the Lord with all her heart and is gone home to receive her crowns.

Helen had many horrible trials throughout her life, but she has always maintained her faith in Jesus. This faith always strengthened her. She loved the word of God in prayer, praise and worship. Helen stood solid like a rock in her walk. Always geared up for the Lott Thunder Revival meetings. Every Easter and Thanksgiving weekend she attended many many tent meetings, special services in Long Plain and other Christ-like events.
