Peacefully on October 13, 2025 Jacob Thiessen passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 84 years.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean Thiessen, daughter Lillian Sanderson, son Bradley Thiessen, daughter-in-law Darlene Thiessen, son-in-law Clark Ducharme, great granddaughter Jesse Saltise, parents Mary and Abraham Thiessen, brothers Abe Thiessen and Leonard Thiessen and sisters Linda Friesen, Tina Baker, Elma Thiessen and Mary Elliot. Jacob will be lovingly remembered by his children Billy (Darlene) Thiessen, Teresa (Mike) Saltise, Rodney Thiessen, Angela Ducharme and Roxanne Thiessen, along with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great granddaughter, along with numerous relatives and friends. He will also be missed by his furbabies Jade and Jax.
Jacob grew up in the Lowe Farm area. He married the love of his life Jean Sanderson of Portage la Prairie, MB on July 4, 1970. Jacob worked at Campbell Soup right up until it closed, then he drove taxi until he retired. He lived at Rotary Park in Portage la Prairie as long as he could, then moved in with his youngest daughter Roxanne and she took care of him for many years.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Hillside Cemetery, everyone is welcome to attend.
As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made in Jacob’s memory to the Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), 121 12th St. NE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 4A2.
