Jeanne Marion Durupt

(nee Tymczuk)

Peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Portage General Hospital, Jeanne Durupt passed away at the age of 91 years.

She is predeceased by beloved husband Leon, her parents, her brothers Walter and Joe, and her sister Stella.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Charles Durupt, Anne (Joe) Nordin, and Louis (Cece) Durupt, and her grandchildren Elizabeth and Paul Nordin, and Ashlee Durupt. She is survived by two sisters Anne McMaster of London, ON, and Rose Rudnicki of Rathwell, MB. and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was born in Brandon in 1918, but lived most of her life in St. Claude. She married Leon in 1941 and they farmed together. She continued working on the farm and raising three children after Leon passed away in 1962.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, and painting. Many of Jeanne's family and friends have one of her hand-made afgans in their homes. The produce from her large garden also made its way to many tables of family and friends.

She moved into Lion's Prairie Manor in 2008, where she received excellent care. Her warm smile and gentle manner endeared her to staff and residents.

Service to celebrate Jeanne's life will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 11:00 am at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, with Father Eric Giddins officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Jeanne's memory to the Lion's Prairie Manor Foundation Inc, 24 9th Street NE, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3V4 or a charity of one's choice.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel who are in care of arrangements. 857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
