Kimamana Hawankan Win

“Rainbow Butterfly Woman”

After a lengthy illness, it is with great sadness that that Jodi started her Journey to the Spirit World on October 6, 2025, at the age of 42 years.

Left to mourn her passing are her children Tracayne Altenburg-Marsden and Shanaya Marsden; siblings Edward Houle and Destini Houle, along with other siblings from her dad’s side of the family. She was predeceased by her mother Charlotte Joan Assiniboine and father David Altenburg; grandparents Jimmie and Rose Assiniboine and her little nephew Brandon Smoke.

Jodi was born on March 28, 1983, and grew up in Long Plain First Nation where she spent her early years surrounded by family, culture and community. As a teenager, Jodi discovered her passion for powwow dancing and travelling alongside her mother and aunties. She would participate and take place; her dedication and spirit led her to become Princess and Professional jingle dress dancer. She shared her vibrant energy to all who watched her dance. In her later years Jodi then had her greatest joy, her children Tracayne and Shanaya. She was known for her sense of humour and ability to make her loved ones laugh. She touched the lives of many, leaving behind memories that will never fade. Jodi will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends and all who were blessed to know her. Her life will continue to shine in the hearts of those she loved.

The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and at Riverview Health Center; Chief and Council; Auntie Lisa Assiniboine for all her help making the arrangements and to everyone who prayed for her. On October 1, 2025, Jodi gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ.
