On Wednesday July 9, 2025, John Fehr passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years. John was predeceased by his wife Marlene (July 9, 2023) and his son Richard (April 17, 2000). John will be lovingly remembered by his children Carla (Brian) Braden, Kathy (Garry) Palmer, Ron (Bonnie) Fehr and daughter-in-law Valerie (Greg) Connolly; grandchildren David (Tarilyn), Breanne (James), Chris (Lindsey), Brad (Kristin), Amy (Cory), Cam (Cassey), Abby, Rodney (Nichole), Tyler, Donnie (Megan), and Amber (Matt) and many precious great-grandchildren.
Dad loved to travel for work and pleasure. He looked forward to his many trips with mom, driving along the back roads always finding new places to visit and romantic picnic spots along the way. Dad was an accomplished salesman and business owner. He had a knack for remembering faces, names and sales. Dad was an adventurer and storyteller. Never passing up the opportunity to meet and get to know new people.
Dad was a man of faith. He loved to start his day reading his Bible and the Daily Bread. He had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed playing several musical instruments, especially the organ. While living at Dufferin Villa he took pride in picking out the hymns for the Friday Church Service. Dad believed in giving back. He was an active volunteer and service member throughout his life. As a member of Lions Service Club in Brandon and while serving as District Governor, he worked hard to grow and support the Lion’s activities with the Special Olympics, Eye Bank and Service Dogs. Dad was handyman and carpenter. His pride and joy was the cabin he built at Sandy Lake, MB. He spent many wonderful years there with mom. They hosted family gatherings, keeping everyone busy with canoeing, fishing, swimming, Easter egg hunts and bonfires. Dad was a kid at heart. He could often be found laughing and playing with the children. He was often a spectator at their hockey games and loved to play games when we were all together; he was terrible at Charades. His grandchildren loved their “grandpa” and the greats loved their “Opa”. He was a wonderful dad and father-in-law, supporting and loving all of us. He will be greatly missed.
A private interment will be held at Brookside Cemetery at a later date.
Dr. Trevor Aquin you have our deepest thanks for your care, support, and kindness. A very special thank you to the team on the medical ward at the Portage General Hospital for all your care and compassion. Thank you to the “Grandpals” at Dufferin Villa for the joy you brought our dad the past two years.
In lieu of flowers please honor John’s memory by sharing a story and a laugh with a new or old friend. “Pay it forward with an act of kindness”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”
