Suddenly on October 24, 2025, Joseph Catcheway passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 64 years.

Joseph is survived by his brother Walter Catcheway, sisters Norma (Conrad) Gabriel, Mary (Percy) Gabriel, and Grace Catcheway, along with numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Cecile Catcheway, sisters Annette (Carl) Sanderson, Linda (Russel) Chartrand, Ethel Catcheway, Doris Catcheway and brother Clifford Catcheway. Recently entered into rest, his sister-in-law Brenda Catcheway.

Joseph Catcheway as born on January 2, 1961, in Winnipegosis MB. He was a happy man and liked to joke around. He like to compliment women when they dressed nice and had nice hair and glasses. His smile and humor lit up the room and showed people he cared for them. He really loved his fried chicken, Pepsi, and chocolate cake. He was very fond of his Mama and Paba.

Joseph grew up in a big family with six sisters and two brothers. He was always a family man and spent a lot of time with them. When he lived at MDC, his parents and siblings would make special trips to visit him. Later in the years, his family moved to Portage and were very close to him. His niece Bonnie, Leanne, and Valerie would go there to spend time with him and take him outside to enjoy the beautiful day. His niece Bonnie volunteered for 2 years so she can spend time with Joseph and MDC staff appreciated her time spent with him.

When MDC closed down and he moved to Winnipeg, his sister Norma and brother-in-law Conrad and family would make trips to visit him. At his home in Winnipeg, the support workers were so good to him and knew his personality very well. His niece Lorelie went to his house to be with him every chance she got. She made a memorable visit a week before his passing. Joseph was truly loved by his family and shared many memories together.

The family would like to thank Visions of Independence in Winnipeg, and all the support staff who took great care of him up to his last day, and to all that knew him.
