Joseph Reid Henderson

September 15, 1955 — March 16, 2026

Peacefully, on March 16, 2026, Joseph “Joe” Henderson passed away at his home in Portage at the age of 70 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Betty Ann Henderson; children Lori Henderson (Scott Prejet) and Richard (Jessica) Henderson; grandchildren Cassie, Lexi, Emily and Eastyn; siblings Lyle (Sylvia), Lois, Keith (Sharon), Kathy, Richard and Greg (Cathy); sister-in-law Susan; along with numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ellen Henderson and brothers Raymond and Ron Henderson.

Joe was born in Portage la Prairie in 1955 and spent his entire life in the community. He married his loving wife in 1980, and they had two children together. He started his employment in construction, working with family in the area. At the age of 30, Joe went back to school to receive a diploma in consumer electronics from Red River College. He then worked in the television industry for 18 years. He ended his employment doing heavy equipment operating in Fort MacMurray, Alberta.

In his retirement years, Joe enjoyed many hobbies including airbrushing and tinkering with his jeep and boat. He enjoyed golf, especially when he went out to play with his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters. He has remained close with all of his living siblings, enjoying weekly coffee visits with his brothers living here and taking trips out west to spend time with family there.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date for family.

Donations in memory of Joe may be made to PAWS Portage Animal Welfare Society.

A tree will be planted and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
