Judy Archibald

September 26, 1943 — January 24, 2021

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Judy Archibald, on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 77 years.

Judy was predeceased by her loving husband, John (Jack) Archibald on February 21, 2006, parents Jean Boulanger and Walter Ushock along with her step-father Mark Boulanger.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Julie Archibald, of Portage la Prairie, MB, son Jeff Archibald of Winnipeg, MB and grandchildren Nolan and Riley Archibald.

Judy was born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario.  She was an only child.  She moved to Manitoba and met her future husband Jack Archibald in Brandon, MB.  They married on March 10, 1967 and moved to Portage la Prairie.  They together built a home a raised two children.

Above all, Judy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  As her children Julie and Jeff were growing up, Judy was very involved in their sport commitments and she took great delight in visits with her grandchildren.  Judy was loving and patient never one to complain.  She was humble and worked hard every day.

Judy was involved in the community and could always be found sharing a story or two with the neighbours on Roe Street.  She participated in aqua size and took pleasure in gardening.  She was a member of the Order of the Royal Purple #66, the Tai-Chi Club and Trinity United Church.

Judy enjoyed travelling and one of the highlights of her travelling was going to Europe twice with her daughter, Julie.  They visited England, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Spain, Portugal and Morocco.  She returned with many stories to tell and many happy memories to share.

A memorial service and celebration of Judy’s life will be held at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, if friend’s so wish, donations may be made in Judy’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard, Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5 or to a charity of choice.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
