Justin Micheal Lafreniere

With profound sadness the family of Justin Lafreniere regret to announce his passing on March 5, 2026 in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 35 years.

Left to cherish his memory are parents Tim and Roxanne, brothers Jeffrey and Tanner, grandmother Leigh and favorite four-legged girl, Ocean. Supportive aunts and uncles: Leanne and Justin Kochen, Wanda and Larry Barron, Donna Prince, Joni and Robbie Maxwell, Lori Lafreniere and Jack McKenzie, Barry and Darcy Lafreniere, Linda and Jean Ducasse.

Fun-loving cousins Jaden, Brandon, Ryder, Colby, Dara, Dawn, Darla, Josh, Jordan, Stephen, Jocelyn, Jesse, Karly, Adam, Cameron, Tyler, Christina, Michelle, Vincent, Rodney, Dwayne and David; along with several extended cousins and relatives, close friends and acquaintances.

His family was important to him, and he was important to them, time spent together at many family dinners, functions and get-to-gethers will be cherished.

Justin grew up in Oakville where he enjoyed playing soccer, hockey and being with friends. His teenage years were in Portage where he went to high school and Portage has remained his home until present.

Justin had the most hardy and infectious laugh. It was loud and genuine and could put a smile on your face the moment you heard it. Justin was kind, loyal, and generous.

Justin enjoyed driving in his car with his loyal companion, Ocean looking for the next best burger, pizza, ribs, or tacos almost anywhere in a 250km radius.

Through the years, Justin had various employments at McDonald’s, Canad Inns, and even with Dad at Tim & Sons Construction. He was an employee with the City of Portage for the past two years and looking forward to another season in April.

Justin will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

Viewing and Visitation will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Celebration of Justin’s life will take place at Canad Inns – Ambassador H, Portage la Prairie, Mb on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 4:00 pm.  The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed by registering at the link below. 

In honor of Justin's love and devotion for Ocean, the family has requested any donations be made in Justin’s memory to PAWS – Portage Animal Welfare Society.
