"Eagle Woman"

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathryn Myran in Winnipeg Manitoba. Kathryn entered the spirit world on August 6, 2026.

She was predeceased by her Grandparents Kathleen and Harry Peters; Grandfather Douglas Beauchamp; Great Grandparents Norman and Elsie Beauchamp, and Rufus Prince; Uncle Douglas Beauchamp Jr.; and her sister Melodie Daniels.

Left to mourn Kathryn’s passing are her Mother, Ivy; children Nathaniel, Jonas, Mack, Ayla, and Grant; her best friend and traditional sister, Jody; and the two special men she shared her life with, Dion and Nathan; along with numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was deeply connected to the earth and the people she loved, with a profound respect for the environment - especially the trees, which she saw as a vital gift that sustains life. Her care for the land was not just spoken but lived every day.

She played a key role in planting the orchards in her community and remained devoted to their care, at times even hauling water by hand to nourish young trees. The orchards reflected her own spirit—nurturing, determined, and committed to leaving something meaningful for future generations.

Family was at the center of her life. She loved her children deeply and found joy in cooking and baking for those around her. Her cinnamon buns became especially well known, remembered not only for their taste but for the love poured into them.

She valued education, service, and community. Crowned Miss DOTC in 1998, she graduated high school shortly after and went on to attend the University of Manitoba, earning a degree in Social Work. She worked with Probation Services and contributed to many community programs, particularly those supporting youth and protecting the environment she cared so deeply for.

Even in the final months of her life, her devotion to her children remained clear. She expressed that if she could not be with them, she wanted to continue doing something meaningful for them. Her advocacy for the environment along the river was rooted not only in her love of the land, but in her love for her children and their future.

She was very creative. She excelled at carving, especially with soap stone. Her pieces are still on display with the Band. Some pieces even went out to BC. Her talent even had her making jewelry. She loved painting. Her voice was amazing and she was asked to sing at her high school graduation. Kathryn was also known as the voice on Rez Radio where she was the DJ for numerous years.

Her life touched many through her compassion, her commitment to youth, her service to community, and her care for the earth. The trees she planted will continue to grow as a living legacy of a woman who gave of herself so that others could flourish.

The Traditional Wake will commence on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Long Plain Spirit Lodge. A Traditional Feast and Service will be held at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 12:00 noon, followed by burial at Long Plain Cemetery.
