Keith Patterson

March 5, 1948 — February 17, 2022

With great sadness we wish to announce the sudden passing of our dad, grandpa and great grandpa. On February 17th, 2022, Keith John Patterson of High Bluff, Manitoba, died peacefully at his home at the age of 73.

He will be greatly missed by his daughter Darla, grandson Bevan (Alyssa), great grandchildren Kali, Bevan Jr., Kaisan, granddaughter Ashley (Marlin) great grandchildren Laehla, Jersey, and Myles, son Alan (Sandra), grandchildren Brooke and Brandon,  son Brian and grandson Braiden. Keith also leaves to mourn his brother Harold and sisters Lynda, Donna and Brenda, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Keith was predeceased by his wife Beverly, parents Archie and Betty, sister Yvonne and daughter Katherine.

Keith was born and raised in small town Manitoba and lived modestly all his life. He moved to Thompson in the late 60’s to begin his long career at the nickel mine (INCO now VALE) where he retired after 32 years. Keith was an intelligent man considering he had little education. His knowledge of motors (or just about anything mechanical for that matter) was second to none. With a quick phone call and an imitation of the noise he would know exactly what needed to be done. Although very stubborn for all of his life, he grew into a kind, loving man with a massive heart for helping others, and a loving grandparent to all his grandchildren especially when it came to sports. Recognized at the rink by many, he took grand parenting very seriously and seldom missed a game, or an opportunity to criticize how it was played. No matter how critical he was, one thing was always guaranteed…there was going to be bubble gum handed out every single time. Keith was an avid hunter during his time up north, and continued to enjoy going out once he moved down south, but nothing…absolutely nothing interfered with his opportunity to watch kids at the rink.

As an expression of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Keith’s memory to a charity offering support for children in sport, or a charity of one’s choice.

A celebration of life is being planned for the spring. Details will be shared via social media or phone call.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
