Kingsley "Leroy" Woods

November 25, 1968 — August 14, 2025

“Running Bear”

On Thursday, August 14, 2025, Kingsley “Leroy” Woods E.I.T "Running Bear" started his journey home, to join our relatives, in the spirit world at the age of 56 years. Kingsley was a devoted father, brother, nephew, uncle and cousin. He was loved by many and his presence will be greatly missed.

Kingsley survived by his wife Belinda Woods, daughters Olivia, Julia and Sophia, sisters Robin Meeches and JoAnn Woods, aunt Shirley Baziel with many nieces, nephews and brother Chris Woods (Farrah Assiniboine) and special brother/friend Keith Pashe and his nieces and special nephew Donovan Meeches. He will also be missed by his grandchildren who called him “ Papa Leroy” and “ Uncle Grandpa” and including all of his Sundance family.

Kingsley is predeceased by his parents Ross Woods and Bessie Meeches, brothers Gary W. Meeches, Darryl C. Woods, Ricky S. Meeches, sisters; Laura A. Woods, niece Skylar E. Meeches, material grandparents Joseph Meeches and Bertha Hobson and paternal grandparents Charles Woods and Laura Woods.

Kingsley was born November 25, 1968, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He had a passion for education, graduated high school at PCI on June 1986. He continued his education with Environment of Canada. Afterwards, he attended The University of Mb, which he completed Areospace Engineering. When he graduated, he took an engineering position in Fort McMurray, Alta, where he would spend the rest of his life. Working for Syncrude and later for Suncor.

Kingsley struggled with addiction unit he found himself at a Sundance one faithful year, this is when he changed his life. During this time is when he met and married Belinda and they both walked the red road together. They went on to have three beautiful daughters. Kingsley grew in his spirituality belief and help many people throughout Canada. He has helped many people find their way through life and we would be forever grateful. Now he will rest peacefully with our love ones, he’ll continue to watch over us.

He was a strong healer in our family, he has always provided knowledge and guidance in our life. We always laughed at each other because we did things so backwards, we even got annoyed. But that’s the thing we are all going miss the most, doing everything last minute and running around trying to do ceremonies. Also helping him find his things, that was always next to him.

Kingsley’s last few days were spent surrounded by his loving family. I like to say it’s never a goodbye, just a different hello.
