After a courageous battle with cancer, Laverne began his journey to the spirit world on April 28, 2020 at the age of 57 years.
Laverne leaves to mourn his wife of 32 years Rhonda, daughter Ashley (Marcel) with grandchildren Madison and Liam, son Brent (Amy) with grandchildren Isaac and Celeste, daughter Chelsea (Dennis) with grandchildren Dennis Jr and Ryder, daughter Alexis, daughter Chantal (whom he took as one of his children) with grandchildren Alicia and Summer, sisters and brothers Ann, Cecil, Morris (Betty), Leona, Doris (Bob) and Dwayne, as well as many friends and extended family members.
Laverne was predeceased by his grandsons Aidan and Keaton, parents James & Betty Daniels, siblings Velma, Gerald, Glen and Garry, nieces Jerilyn, Amy and Cheryl, nephews Brendan and Dennis and sister- in- law Eileen.
Laverne enjoyed hunting, snaring, fishing, trapping, antler picking, camping, vlt’s, and playing cards. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children & grandchildren and all of his family and friends.
Laverne was a certified carpenter, and he worked for Long Plain First Nation as ground maintenance, spirit lodge maintenance, and helped build Long Plain School. Laverne always had a big smile and he lived his life to the fullest.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Myran, Tim Meeches, Cory Peters, Chris Meeches, Karl Peters, Ryan McKinney and Charlton Daniels.
The family would like to thank the Portage Hospital, Dr. Kinnear, Dr. Green (Cancer Care) the nurses who helped in caring for him during his stay.
A private family service will be held with burial to follow at Long Plain Cemetery.
