Leslie Eldon Matthews

After a short illness, Leslie Matthews passed away on Monday February 23, 2026 in Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB at the age of 89 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Scott Matthews of Portage la Prairie, MB, Robyn (Taggart) Matthews of Port Coquitlam, BC, Mark Matthews of Fort Severn, ON; grandchildren: Cole Matthews, Ethan Matthews, Ash O’Brien; siblings: Lorna (Jim) Matthews of Winnipeg, MB, Eugene (Melita) Matthews of Burin, NL, Ron (Lise) Matthews of Nanaimo, BC, Betty Halliday of St. John’s, NL; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Leslie was predeceased by his wife Bonnie Elaine Matthews (nee Cole), parents Roland and Gertrude Matthews, siblings Garold Matthews and Ethel Rabenort.

A graveside service at Hillside Cemetery to be held in the summertime. Details will follow, closer to the date.
