“Brown Horse”

Leslie Myran began his journey to the Spirit World on March 12, 2024 at the Portage District General Hospital in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 79 years.

Les is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughters Wanda (Patrick) McIvor, Priscilla (Ged) Meeches, Cheryl (Darren) Meeches and Tanya G. (Keith) Myran, sons Darryl Meeches, Harley (Cassandra) Myran, Kevin (Amanda) Myran and Leslie Craig (Jessica) Myran, siblings Louie (Shirley), Maurice, and Karen, 41 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Louie and Louisa Myran, siblings Donna, Dorothy, Gordie, Thomas, Dennis, Marilyn and Marlene, nephews Gordie, Ricky, Eric and Chris, grandchildren Elissa Smoke and Konye Smoke, and great-grandchildren Leslie Tatum Smoke, Keyanna Rey Smoke, Gemma Hill-Schmidt and Everliegh Hill-Schmidt.

Dad was a self-taught mechanic, hunter, semi-truck driver.  His love and passion were the driving force in his life for his family. He was an excellent provider and never left his family go without.  His family always looked forward to his return from his long hauls because he shared his experiences and would bring little souvenirs back.   Christmas was the best because he and our mom Phyllis would bring unique gifts back for almost everyone throughout the years.

Dad loved watching his sons play hockey and he also sponsored when needed.  He drove the Long Plain chartered bus on numerous occasions and was the organizer of family reunion BBQ’s.

Dad practiced his traditions and was a strong believer and carried this throughout his life. Many family and friends are here from all four directions.

Wake will take place on Monday, March 18, 2024 at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge beginning at 4:00 pm. Feast and Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at noon at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge, followed by burial at Dauphin Myran Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Long Plain First Nation Chief and Council,  the Lions Prairie Manor, Portage District General Hospital, Long Plain Cultural Program, Long Plain School, Val Houle for the moccasins, Patrick McIvor (son-in-law) for the tribute semi-truck, Thelma Merrick for the Star Blanket, Ambria (J-Lo) Roulette for the ribbon shirts, McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, and all those who have offered support and provided donations.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
