Lillian Angele Marie Huberdeau

(nee Paradis)

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lillian Huberdeau on Tuesday, July 04, 2017, at the age of 82 at St Boniface Asper Institute.

She leaves to mourn her husband of 64 years Pierre Huberdeau; her children Doris (Ted) Albo, Lise (Ron) Peters, Jocelyne (Rob) Fournier, Céline Huberdeau, Richard (Florine) Huberdeau, Rose-Marie (Roger) Fouasse, Germain (Darlene) Huberdeau, Omer (Jo-Dee) Huberdeau, Marcella (Simon) Huberdeau, Yvan (Priscilla) Huberdeau, Odette (Jeff) Parker; 30 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her siblings Guy (Jeanne) Paradis, Yvette Boulet, Rev. Edmond Paradis O.M.I, Clemence (Jack) Bignell, Rev. Francois Paradis O.M.I, Angela Hudon; her sister-in-law Colette Huberdeau; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Greeting her in heaven are her parents Arthur and Alice Paradis; her son Camil Huberdeau; her granddaughter Danique Huberdeau; brothers-in-law Jules Boulet, Arthur Hudon and Andre Huberdeau.

Our mother was very strong. She worked very hard on the farm in St. Lazare raising 11 children, taking care of a huge garden, the farm animals, and taking lunches to the fields for the hard working men and women. She grew up in Dunrea, Manitoba, where she spent a lot of time at the lake with her family, as her father was a big fisherman. Her love of swimming was an asset; going to the pool was a reward for doing our chores. At the end of the day it was her strong faith and prayers that helped her get to the next day.

No one beats mom's homemade bread, pie crust and homemade butter. She could whip up a meal at the drop of a hat for unexpected visitors. What was one more mouth to feed. She was a great seamstress, was a leader for the 4-H club, and a member of the ladies auxiliary. She loved playing cards and board games. You couldn't cheat as she always kept the score. She was very good at word games, crossword puzzles, and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. She loved bingo and often joined her friends for bridge, and for bus trips to the casinos in Winnipeg.

Mom and dad did everything together, including achieving their black belts in karate and later teaching karate in St. Claude, Manitoba. They loved camping and traveling across Canada and Alaska. They traveled to Europe, to the Holy Lands, Florida, Las Vegas and Mexico. Her last trip was to BC for our mother/daughter gathering in May 2017.

She will be missed.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 am.  A private family interment will take place at a later date in the St. Lazare cemetery.

A special thank you goes to Dr. Finney of the Portage Clinic and to the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital and Asper Institute for their compassion and kindness.
