With sadness, we announce the passing of Lillian Lamirande on January 21, 2026 at Lion’s Prairie Manor at the age of 82 years.
Left to cherish Lillian’s memory are her beloved husband Raymond Lamirande; children Glenda Ducharme (Gilles “Smart” Carriere), Karen Lavallee (Bill) and Vincent Lamirande; grandchildren Kristen Ducharme (Cody Bellrose), Kurtis Ducharme (Delaney), Nick Lavallee, Andrew Lavallee and William (BJ) Lavallee (Meressa); great-grandchildren Hailie, Kane, Bentley, Theo, Nile, Zoey, Kalli, Kaleb, Karter, Lawrence, Forest, Aria and Octovia; special aunt Therese Lavallee, sister-in-law Linda Ducharme, sister-in-law Jeanette Gaudry and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Marcelline Ducharme; sister Helen Adams (Clifford); brothers Rene Ducharme (Jean), John Ducharme and Paul Ducharme (Susan).
Born May 4, 1943, to Joseph and Marcelline Ducharme, Lillian was the youngest of 5 children. She married Raymond Nov 12, 1960, and their story began. The early years, Lillian was a devoted mother and wife. She was an amazing mother to her 3 children and hardworking farm wife supporting dad.
Later in life she worked at McCain foods in Portage la Prairie. She also worked and cooked at duck hunting camps which she loved. There were numerous other jobs she worked at and enjoyed. Mom’s passion was cooking and baking, which led her to her last position before retirement, as cook at York Lodge in Delta. She absolutely loved that job. Mom’s cooking became her trademark with family and friends who benefited from her love of cooking and feeding people. No one left her house hungry. Her family favorites were her homemade bread, fish fry, saskatoon pie and amazing Bannock among many other treats. Her Christmas and other holiday meals were legendary. Lillian was a faithful Catholic and attended mass as often as she could and took a lot of comfort in her religious beliefs. She was also a proud citizen of the Manitoba Metis Federation.
In addition to her family and work, Lillian’s other passions included shopping, Bingo and travelling. At one time, she was a member of the St. Ambroise community center and helped with many functions through the years.
Memere/Mama loved spending time with grand and great-grandchildren at any opportunity she could. She loved being around children.
Lillian will be remembered as a generous loving wife, mother, memere, mama and dear friend to many who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
Mom’s long battle with dementia is over and she is finally at peace.
Special thanks to the staff at Lion’s Prairie Manor (Parkside). The daily care they provided was amazing. A big thank you to the caring staff who made mom’s time there comfortable.
