Lloyd William Popko

We are sad to announce the passing of Lloyd Popko on June 4th, 2026, in Portage la Prairie at the age of 62. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers and sisters Brenda, Timothy, James, Karen (Craig), Kelly (Kellie), and Della; children Elaine (Thomas), Greg and Ashley; aunt Deborah (Vern), and 15 grandchildren; along with his many nieces and nephews, Micheal, Corey, Haley, Chantel, Tyler, Tanner, Dana and Sara.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Harry and Gertrude Ducharme and Mike and Mary Popko, parents Walter and Dorleen, brother Morris, sister-in-law Breega and nephew Ryan.

Lloyd was born in Portage la Prairie on September 2nd, 1963, and baptized in the Catholic faith July 21st, 1967.

Lloyd spent his younger years in southern Manitoba before returning to Portage with the family.

Lloyd was a charismatic man who loved spending time with his family. He had a great love for animals, especially horses. He had the opportunity to spend time in Alberta with his uncle training and racing horses.

Lloyd loved talking to people and making friends everywhere he went.

He will be missed by the many friends he had made at different jobs he worked over the years and the people he got to know at Oaktree Towers.

We wish to thank the doctors nurses and staff at the Portage Hospital and the paramedics for his care. As well as the staff and tenants at Oaktree towers for their friendship and their kindness.

Forever loved, forever remembered, forever missed.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church at 1:00 pm. Private family burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
